Anjuman Ara Khatun
Postdoctoral Researcher
University of Yamanashi
Japan
Dr. Anjuman Ara Khatun is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Yamanashi, Japan. She completed her Ph.D. in Energy Materials Science at the University of Yamanashi under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship, where her doctoral research focused on inorganic materials, solid solution formation, composite materials, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Prior to her doctoral studies, she earned her M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, both supported by government scholarships, gaining early research experience in polymers and nanotechnology.
Dr. Ara also worked as a Research and Development Engineer, with practical experience in electron beam welding and other welding processes, bridging fundamental materials science with industrial applications. She has extensive experience in academic communication and mentoring, having served as a Research Assistant and Student Assistant at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and the University of Yamanashi, Japan. In addition, she refined her scientific writing and editorial skills as a sub-editor at an English daily newspaper.Dr. Ara remains actively engaged in academic, cultural, and volunteer organizations that promote advancements in materials science and foster international collaboration.
Research Interests
Dr. Ara is interested in the synthesis, design, and characterization of inorganic ceramics, solid solutions, composite materials, and functional oxides for diverse applications, including metal and alloy welding. Her research interests further extend to polymer materials, polymer composites, and first-principles DFT calculations for understanding and tailoring the structural, electronic, and thermodynamic properties of advanced materials.
